Actors Shortlisted For The Willy Wonka Origin/Prequel Revealed

The Willy Wonka origin/prequel is moving into gear as Warner Bros have now got a shortlist of actors to possibly play the role.

Collider’s Jeff Snider broke some major scoop regarding this project and exclusively revealed that Ryan Gosling, Donald Glover and Ezra Miller are in consideration.

To be honest all three bring such differences to the role that I couldn’t see another actor getting in this shortlist alone.

Snider reveals that Gosling is normally at the top of WB’s shortlists and the actor has a long history with the studio, while the studio is seemingly investing in Miller’s future as he’s currently The Flash in the DCU as well as starring in the Fantastic Beast films.

The actor I’d go for because I think would love to get mixed in the weirdness of Wonka and has a great singing voice if they wanted to add a musical number is Glover and he’d even make me a little bit more excited.

Snider goes on to add that Glover is “actively chasing this role.”

The film will be directed by Paddington’s Paul King, so you know the film will have humour and heart as the Paddington movies are superbly wonderful family movies. Meanwhile, King will be working with his Paddington producer David Heyman and with Heyman also producing the Fantastic Beasts movies it could be a benefit to Miller.
