Liam Neeson does a lot of action films, some good, some bad but not one of them had humour (on purpose at least) until now with Cold Pursuit possibly the best of the old man Nesson killing people film.

After the death of his son, Nels Coxman (Neeson) is fuelled by revenge to find the men and murder them leading to drug lord Viking (Bateman). Meanwhile, his action triggers a turf war between Viking and Native-American mafia boss and long-standing rival White Bull (Jackson).

This movie is a great time and a complete joy.

By all accounts different from the original Norwegian film Kraftidioten (In Order of Disappearance) starring Stellan Skarsgard which was from what I've heard is a darker movie.

As I said above possibly my favourite in the genre the Northern Irish actor curved for himself. You feel sympathy for him and understood the rage inside him to find the men responsible and wanting to get some payback.

It would’ve been a dark action drama but instead, the use of comedy works brilliantly and helps make you realise that this is a have a drink and relax as you watch a see the complete mental fun of it all.

Bateman does an equally comedic performance and it doesn’t hide the viciousness towards people and could be seen similarly to Neeson’s Coxman as he too would do anything for his son, even if his motives are a bit insane.

However, throughout there are moments Bateman gave out minor James Bond and Batman vibes and I believe would do decent in those roles.

Apart from this, there’s nothing special or groundbreaking. It’s simply a good time.

Verdict

The best old man Neeson killing people film. Cold Pursuit is a funny, mental and utter joy.
