Great news for you Uncharted fans! It looks like the film adaptation of this popular game series is back on track.
Getting this franchise up and running has been a stop and start issue since 2009 with the last we heard the 2017 release date vanished from the film schedule, this time it looks things are looking up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the green light is back on and with a new director as Shawn Levy takes over to helm the project.

Levy is best known for directing Night at the Museum and the cult Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things and he’s the fourth director for this film after the likes of Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses), David O. Russell (American Hustle) and Neil Burger (Divergent) all left after the heavy development process set in.
Now, Sony has got a script by Joe Carnahan, who was rumoured to also direct, is focused on the third Bad Boys film called Bad Boys for Life.
At the moment, Levy is prepping for season two of Netflix’s Stranger Things as he’ll be directing several episodes.
In case you’ve never played the popular Playstation game, it centres on a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake – descendent of Sir Francis Drake – who believes he has the whereabouts of the fabled golden South American city El Dorado becomes competitive when rival hunter joins the fray, then is ratcheted up several notches when creatures – which are mutated descendants of Spaniards and Nazis – begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure’s true secret’s.
