Batman v Superman isn’t the only big film getting released this week as Disney are bringing out their big gun. Zootropolis has been a massive hit in the States topping their box office for the past three weeks and making over $200 million.

The main reason for this is because Zootropolis is brilliant and by learning from Pixar, Disney animation has gotten better with Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen for example and we now have another classic to add to their already impressive record.

In the mammal city of Zootropolis, Judy Hoops (Goodwin) is the first ever bunny to become a cop and she’s forced to team up with a sly fox called Nick Wilde (Bateman) when civilised animals start turning savage.

As you can tell by my intro, I loved Zootropolis not only is it incredibly cute and charming but the animation is stunning. Every detail of the city is incredibly well done and just seeing all these different environments was spectacular.

It wasn’t just the beautiful environments that were well drawn, but also the animals themselves and how they drew each animal with a human trait/personality coming through and it was spot on.

Nick Wilde for example, he’s a bit of a con man, a bit of a Del boy, and Bateman was the perfect person to voice the character. While Goodwin’s officer Hoops is adorably cute and everyone will love her and Goodwin did such a great job because when you think of a rabbit talking they would speak at 100 miles an hour, this makes the sloth scene one of the funniest scenes.

Disney also seemed to have copied Pixar with the humour, which is well balanced, making sure it hits all the right notes for kids and adults to enjoy. Like any other Disney film, there’s a deeper meaning, that will go over children’s heads, of imagination which the adults will pick up on.

It’s also an uplifting story to teach kids that even though reaching your dream will be hard if you keep at it, you will succeed.

Verdict
Incredibly enjoyable animation for all ages.
