As Wonder Woman’s cinema run is coming to an end with over $402 million in the US box office and worldwide its close to $800 million making the film the third highest domestic film in Warner Bros’ history.
This run has made the film’s director Patty Jenkins one of Hollywood’s hottest and most sort after directors at the moment and WB knows.
After only signing Jenkins to a one-film-deal (smartly so) the studio is now desperate to get her back for the sequel and it looks like the helmer is going to break records with her new deal.

During Comic-Con, the studio confirmed the sequel with Gal Gadot to star and days later the release date to be December 13, 2019. Yet still no news about Jenkins returning and this is because she’s “expects to be paid substantially more and the same as a male director would receive after such a box office coup” according to Deadline.
Deadline went on to add that the “desire was seconds away from becoming a reality on Thursday evening as a deal was being finalized which would elevate her as the highest-paid female director in town.”

What does this mean numbers wise? “A frosh director on a comic book movie gets $1.5m to $3m, while a director in the realm of Zack Snyder (who is helming DC’s Justice League) received $10m against 10% cash break even for his second DC film Man of Steel. (That’s usually paid out as 20% during pre-production, 60% during production, 10% during post and 10% following).”
This deal would be historic as Jenkins can possibly at max earn 10x as much as she got to helm the original film. I think fans wouldn’t care one bit as long as WB signs her up. She gave us a perfect Wonder Woman, sort of single handily changed a lot of people’s means about the DCEU, plus she’s the only director (at the moment) to show how talented Gadot is as an actress.

As well as the MASSIVE pay day, I can see the 46-year-old having more creative control with the sequel and probably in the wider DCEU and I can even see her helming either Man of Steel 2 or a Justice League sequel.
