With Justice League now out in cinemas for you to enjoy and even though the box office wasn’t great, it’s honestly awful. Even though the future looks bright moving forward, I think it’s safe to say there will be changes to the schedule.
2018 will be a major year for Warner Bros and DC when it comes to the DCEU.
I’m going to put all the films rumoured to happen in my own release schedule and they’ll be some movies added, some removed and some changes.
2018
Aquaman (21 December) – This movie has finished shooting and is now in the editing stage. Give some added time for reshoots (because all films have reshoots!) to redo a scene because of lighting or add/change something.
I don’t have too much to worry about this as James Wan has some major pull working with Warner Bros president Toby Emmerich from their days at New Line with The Conjuring movies. So I don’t see WB execs having too much of a say.

2019
Shazam! (5 April) – David F. Sandberg has cast the two important roles of Billy Batson being played Asher Angel and Batson’s alter ego Shazam will be played by Zachary Levi. Plus this film goes into production in February, so this movie isn’t going anywhere.

The music will be likely handled by Benjamin Wallfisch.
Superman (June) – After years of being in development, this movie should be greenlit before the end of the year to give Warner Bros time to find a writer and director someone like J.A. Bayona. Additionally, with Henry Cavill having one film left in his contract it should be his Man of Steel sequel.
Plus this could be the film to finally show the wider audience who Cavill is a great Clark Kent/Superman. If it does well then sign him up for another 3/4 movie deal.
Simply calling the movie Superman is a money print already and keep the story simple. The villain should be earth based, so no Brainiac this time, and bring back Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luther with Metallo.
As for the music, bring back Junkie XL because just listen to the Man of Steel and Batman v Superman soundtrack.
Suicide Squad 2 (September) – After making over $745 million worldwide a sequel needs to be in the works ASAP and with a director like Gavin O’Connor it’ll be a better story and after Superman using Lex Luther again and bring the Legion of Doom including Deathstroke, Black Manta and Joker.
Plus, bringing back Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker makes senses and can lead right into their spin-off.

As for the score, Steve Price deserves a second chance to show how great he is.
Wonder Woman 2 (1 November) – Whatever happens to the DCEU, Wonder Woman 2 (alongside Aquaman and Shazam!) was always going to happen. Just let Patty Jenkins do her thing and it’ll hopefully be another hit.

Rupert Gregson-Williams has to return and continue his Wonder Woman music journey.
2020
Joker & Harley Quinn: Mad Love (February) – Mad Love is the perfect title and having the release date on Valentine’s Day would sell tickets. The film would follow from Suicide Squad 2 and we see Harley stand-up on her own two feet and leave Joker. End credits feature Poison Ivy to lead to Gotham City Sirens.

Looking at someone like Mica Levi could bring a dark, twisted romantic score to the film. She’d become the first female to score a major blockbuster.
Nightwing (April) – Chris McKay has tweeted out they’ll be open auditions for the role of Dick Greyson/Nightwing and he’s going to put the chosen actor though a boot camp as this is going to be a badass action film.
With Bill Dubuque (The Accountant, Ozark) writing the script and add McKay’s comic book knowledge, we could get a badass superhero movie to kick off 2020. Plus the release dates give McKay two full years of production from pre to post.

I’m 99% certain Lorne Balfe will reunite with McKay to do the music.
The Batman (July) – Matt Reeves’ Batman should be a summer movie has it should be able to repeat previous successes of summer Batman movies.

If Ben Affleck doesn’t return, I can see this film as a 90s based prequel as it gives Reeves plenty of creative freedom to play with and cast a younger Bruce Wayne probably Jake Gyllenhaal.
For some reason, I can see someone like Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) do something dark, heavy and beautifully new with the soundtrack and maybe give this DCEU Batman a new theme.
Batgirl (November) – Either of these films could end the year of the Bat (and if I were an exec at Warner Bros that’s how I’d market 2020). After what he did with the bad tasting jokes with Wonder Woman on Justice League I’d remove Joss Whedon (put him on something else though) and place Ava DuVernay in the director’s chair.
After saying she cried during Wonder Woman, it could be a way to bring her in the DCEU family to helm a character that’ll be a hero to many young girls like Wonder Woman. This all hoping that she’ll have time because Ava should be directing a Star Wars film by this point.
2021
Cyborg (February) – I think it’s important for Cyborg to be helmed by a black director and while Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) would be an interesting choice, I can only see him helm certain projects. F Gary Grey is a likelier name.
Ray Fisher is a star and a strong standout coming out of Justice League. So a solo film is important, but with more important taking priority this will be the earliest to get something released.

The Flash (May) – A film I’d make go through another change because I wouldn’t make his first solo film his biggest storyline and being basically Justice League 1.5.
Instead, bring in Edger Wright and have a simple story for us to get to know this Barry Allen and take on The Rogues (a group of villains) and get to see why Iris West (Kiersey Clemons) is important to him. The final moments of the film would lead to Flashpoint.

Gotham City Sirens (August) – After the directing the utterly beautiful and superb Professor Marston and the Wonder Women, it’s only right Angela Robinson should be given her own DCEU film which means removing David Ayer, but this is for the right reasons.
This could a continuation of Harley Quinn’s story in the DCEU, we can see a beautiful love story grow throughout this film between Quinn and Poison Ivy. Just cast Eiza Gonzalez as Catwoman.

Green Lantern Corps (December) – After removing him from Batgirl, I’d stick Joss Whedon on Green Lantern Corps as he could really play on the Lethal Weapon in space theme and the quippy dialogue would work better here.
If Aquaman does decent, medium Star Wars levels of success then making GLC an entertaining time at the cinema for Christmas.

2022
Justice League: Flashpoint (June) – The final scene of Flash should be the opening scene of JL: Flashpoint and this story works better as a Justice League story and I’d look at the animated film for an idea.

We could see an awesomely badass battle between Momoa’s Aquaman and Gadot’s Wonder Woman.
The end of the film could be that iconic scene with Affleck’s Wayne dying to have that emotional punch.
Wonder Woman 3 (November) – Jenkins should have the right to end her trilogy and bring it to the modern day.

2023
Superman: The Last Son of Krypton (March) – This would be the film to not only introduce Brainiac but also Saorise Ronan as Supergirl and would be the perfect story to end Cavill’s Superman trilogy.

The Batman 2 (July) – The second movie of Reeves’ Batman arc either as a prequel with Gyllenhaal as Bats or maybe focus on Dick Grayson’s Batman and the struggles of taking on this massive mantle.
Aquaman 2 (December) – Wan’s sequel focuses on how King Arthur battles for Atlantis with a battle against Orm/Ocean Master.
Features the moment we see Curry cut off his hand to save his son and Mera.
