Jude Law is in final talks with Marvel to star as the male lead opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel.
According to Variety, Law will be playing Doctor Walter
Lawson, who’s better known to comic fans as Mar-Vell and he becomes a mentor to
Larson’s Carol Danvers and helps her figure out her new powers.

Worked on Mar-vell for some fun today, I heard he was confirmed for @captainmarvel (Jude law will be playing) can't wait to see him pass the torch over to @brielarson pic.twitter.com/VCrkxw5s6u— BossLogic (@Bosslogic) 23 November 2017
Law will be joining recently cast Ben Mendelsohn, who’ll
be playing the villain.
Geneva Robertson – Dworet has written the most recent script
based off Inside Out’s scribe Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman’s previous drafts.
The story will follow Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with an
alien during an accident. The resulting infusion embodies her with superpowers
of strength, energy projection and flight.
The Marvel film will be directed by Mississippi Grind helmers
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck with Kevin Feige producing.
Feige revealed as this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that the
MCU movie will be set in the 90s with Samuel L. Jackson expected to reprise the
role of Nick Fury with rumour he could have both eyes.
This is a smart move for Law as this becomes his second
major tentpole role alongside starring as young Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic
Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Also, I can only see the role of Mar-vell as
a one and done.
Captain Marvel is expected to be released on March 8, 2019,
however, with Marvel’s business model to release in the UK earlier then it’s
likely to be released in the Britain during mid-February during school half-term.
