Survivor Series 2018 Predictions

IMAGE VIA WWE

Tonight is the big night for WWE as Raw and Smackdown go head-to-head as we found out which brand is best at Survivor Series in LA.

Due to the absence of SD Live women’s Becky Lynch missing out due to injury but still has one of the most iconic moments in Raw recent history. If you haven’t seen it check it out below.

Despite Lynch missing out as put a damper on things in regards to the fans, tonight should be a great night of wrestling.

Check out the full match card and my predictions here.

10-on-10 Tag Team Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match (Kick-Off Match)

The Usos will be leading Smackdown Live and have joined forces with The New Day, SAnitY, The Colons and Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

Meanwhile, captaining Raw will be Bobby Roode and Chad Gable and they’ll be joined by The Revival, The B-Team, Lucha House Party and The Ascension.

With the winner giving their brand the upper hand going into the main show.

Prediction

The fact every main roster tag team is in this spells out this is going to be a messy start and with the likes of Usos and New Day, Smackdown will win comfortably as there’s no one on the Raw side that could beat them.

I mean I love The Revival but they haven’t done anything since moving up and so an easy win for the blue brand it is.

Winner – Team Smackdown Live

WWE Cruiserweight Championship – Buddy Murphy vs Mustafa Ali

This match will likely be on the kick-off show.

Murphy has been unstoppable since claiming the Cruiserweight title in front of his hometown fans at the Super Show-Down and now faces a test in The Heart of 205 Live Ali.

Prediction

I have no idea. I don’t watch 205 Live.

However, with Murphy just winning the title, it’ll be small minded to let the title leave him already even though Ali is whenever I’ve seen him been decent.

So to build a story I guess Buddy winning by the skin of his teeth.

Winner – Buddy Murphy Retains The WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura

This will make the first match between Rollins and Nakamura as they battle to found out which midcard title is superior (it’s the IC).

Prediction

The way WWE has presented it will be a win for Raw and the Intercontinental title. Rollins is seen as part of the main event with most of this year the IC champ the top belt on Monday Night Raw.

Meanwhile, after his feud with AJ Styles and then winning the US, Nakamura has done next to fuck all and it’s nothing but a massive shame.

However, hopefully, in the ring with a wrestler of Rollins’ level, Shinsuke will turn up and give a performance on the level when he competed on NXT.

The only question mark is the interference of Dean Ambrose and if he’ll come in and cost Rollins the win.

Winner – Seth Rollins

Raw Tag Team Champions AOP vs Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Bar (w/ Big Show)

AOP is the best team Raw had so it made sense for them to take the titles a couple of weeks before Survivor Series. Meanwhile, having represented the red brand last year, The Bar are now fully team blue and with the help of the Big Show ready to reverse last year’s result.

Prediction

This match will be the ‘toilet break” match as there’s no real investment in either team on the brands.

To help the younger guys, I can see The Bar falling to win again and give the rub to AOP to become more of a dominant team on Raw and help their tag division out because they really need it.

Yet again though, what effect will Big Show have to help Sheamus and Cesaro clinch the win.

Winner – AOP

Women’s 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match – Natalya, Mickie James, Tamina, Nia Jax & Ruby Riott (Raw) vs Asuka, Carmella, Naomi, Sonya Deville & ??? (Smackdown)

The first question is who will be replacing Charlotte and there a couple of Smackdown women not doing much and then there’s some out of the box.

With Alexa Bliss leading her Raw side against SD GM Paige on the other, this mystery fifth member could be the difference.

Prediction

This match will be a lot tighter than previously thought as I would've gone for Smackdown to win with Charlotte on the team.

I think Nikki Cross is the safest bet on being the fifth member but there’s also a chance a pissed off Sasha Banks or Bayley could join the blue brand after what Bliss did to them on Monday Night.

Then again this could be the heel turn for both ladies and cost Raw the win similar to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn did last year.

I expect Raw will win and have Nia and Tamina the last two standing as they’ll come back to pay later on the show or they get eliminated early and safe there on maybe just Nia’s energy.

Winner – Team Smackdown Live

Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs WWE Champion Daniel Bryan

It was all set to be a rematch between Brock and AJ until Bryan turned heel and got his hands on the WWE title on Tuesday in a similar repeat of when Styles clinched the title the week of Survivor Series last year.

The reason this is not the main event is it doesn’t deserve to be and that more important storytelling has to happen on the final two matches.

Prediction

I was generally excited to see Brock vs AJ 2 as last year it was Brock’s only wrestling competitive match to the point I thought the Phenomenal One was going to win.

If Style did win what a great rubber match we could’ve had at Wrestlemania as he could’ve lost the title on SD, the rematch at TLC, won the Royal Rumble and competed for the Universal title.

That didn’t happen so here we are and while this was a dream match for plenty of WWE fans the fact Bryan is now heel takes the shine of things and with a UFC bout on the horizon, there’s no way The Beast will be losing.

I’m just hoping for a semi-competitive match.

Winner – Brock Lesnar

Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair

Even though it’ll be forever remembered as one of the greatest recent moments on Raw and WWE history, not having Becky Lynch in this match due to a broken face and concussion hurts the whole PPV.

So thanks Nia for ruining that.

As for the match itself, this was originally the rumoured main event of Wrestlemania this year. So hopefully this two talented wrestlers will blow the roof off.

Prediction

If Lynch was in the match I believed she would’ve given Ronda her first defeat in WWE, but I expect this match will go one way to protect everyone.

By the end of a hopefully great match, Nia Jax and Tamina will come and take out both out making it a no contest.

This will mean Rousey is still undefeated and Charlotte still considered one of the top stars in the company.

This will no doubt get fans pissed, but they’ll come back around once The Lass Kicker comes out.

She can get payback on Nia for taking her out of this match, then get the heel heat back by putting Charlotte in the dis-arm-her telling her she had “one job” and finally turn to Rousey and once again locking the dis-arm-her then have The Man holding the SD Live title above her four fallen victims.

Winner – No Contest

Men’s 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Match – Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor, Bobby Lashley & Dolph Ziggler (Raw) vs The Miz, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio & Shane McMahon

Having the Greatest Wrestler of All Time in McMahon should give Smackdown the easy win but after the promise of a Universal title shot, Strowman has everything to lose.

Prediction

Minus the fact, Team Raw is so much stronger than Team SmackDown.

Then as much as I’d love to see Balor be showcased here, this match matters for three people only McMahon, Strowman and McIntyre.

The reason because since winning the World Cup in Saudi Arabia the “Greatest Wrestler” tag could give Shane a big head and if he won this by devious means it could be the heel turn that refreshes the character.

However, with such an ultimatum placed on him by Stephane McMahon, The Monster Among Men HAS to help Raw win.

On the other hand, I see this as the showcase for McIntyre and for him to enter the top card with a dominant display to make his argument to battle Brock for the Universal title.

He will either be the only or with Strowman the only men left standing.

Winner - Team Raw
