It’s a great Oscar Nominations day for The Favourite and Roma as both films lead the way with 10 nominations each.
They were followed by the updated retelling of A Star Is Born and the Dick Chaney movie, Vice both receiving eight noms and the biggest celebration will no doubt be at Marvel Studios HQ as Black Panther picked up seven nominations including Best Picture becoming the first superhero film to do so.

As someone who liked Black Panther and it’s in my top five favourite MCU films, but it doesn’t deserve the nomination especially when you think movies from the genre from Logan and The Dark Knight missed out.
Elsewhere, it’s a great morning for Spike Lee getting a Best Director nom as one of the six nominations his film received.
Meanwhile, it was a great day for the Brits as Olivia Coleman and Rachel Weitz picked up Best Actress and Supporting Actress for their roles in The Favourite. Christian Bale leads the Best Actor nominees for this performance of Dick Chaney in Vice.

The biggest surprise is the list of films that missed out especially You Were Never Really Here deserved a Best Picture and Best Director for Lynne Ramsey, Lakeith Stanfield with Best Actor for Sorry To Bother You and Nicole Kidman’s performance in Destroyer, which the film should’ve also picked up a nomination.
Then you have If Beale Street Could Talk, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Widows and no love for PADDINGTON 2?!? 2018 was a great fucking year for cinema and have 10 Best Picture nominations they could’ve filled but just went with the eight.
On the plus note, the Academy should do a last minute bid for Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross to host the Oscars as they were delightful to watch and clearly had great chemistry.
