Deadpool you beautiful bastard. Ever since the marketing for this film started the hype grew and grew and it will go down has one of the best marketing campaigns in history. I’ve been so excited to see Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool to the point I did a ‘Films To See In 2016 Deadpool Special’. I’m happy to say it lives up to the hype and beyond.

I have never been so entertained whilst watching a film and haven’t laughed out loud in a cinema for a very long time.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson (Reynolds), who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humour, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

I don’t think there’s another praise I can give this film. This was the role, Reynolds was born to play. Deadpool is a hilarious, dark action revenge film and it doesn’t shine away from that and it was the right call to make this a 15 rated film instead of a 12A as they would’ve lost a lot of what made this film brilliant.

From the opening credits, you’ll laugh out loud and the humour will keep coming and is relentless and the same can be said about the action as you see limbs and brains flying everywhere.

The supporting cast is brilliant as well with Baccarin playing Wilson’s girlfriend Vanessa who is as sick and twisted as Wilson is and even though she isn’t really a likeable person you can’t help but be charmed by their relationship.

While T.J. Miller also really good as Weasel and just adds to the comedy.

It isn’t all fun and games as the torture scenes, where we get introduced to villains Ajax (Skrein) and Angel Dust (Carano), are sobering and even hard to watch at times.

Speaking of Skrein and Carano, even though they were playing the villains they both did decent jobs with what they had to work with as Deadpool, even though we’re rooting for him, is also can be seen as the bad guy.

With the introduction of Colossus (voiced by Kapicic) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Hildebrand), the possibility of seeing Deadpool in a future X-Men movie is high and these two characters were used perfectly with Colossus playing the straight man and at times it felt like a buddy cop movie. While the back and forth between Negasonic and Deadpool was also entertaining.

Tim Miller has done a fantastic job directing and this film will be the launching pad for so many comic book franchises that would benefit from a 15/18 rating.

Verdict
Deadpool is one of the most entertaining and fun films I've seen in a long time. A non-stop comedy action film with Reynolds born to play this role.
