There seems to be no rest for Marvel when it comes to Spider-Man: Homecoming after weeks for casting news and production underway it looked like everything was done. It turns out it wasn’t the case as The Hollywood Reporter revealed The Nice Guys’ Angourie Rice is their newest addition.

Rice, stole scenes from under the noise of Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, is playing…. Well, Sony nor Marvel are saying at this present moment and they’re being even more greedy by not telling us what the plot is either.

All we know is Tom Holland’s Peter Parker won’t be going through the whole spider bite, with great power etc, etc. Instead, we catch up with our favourite neighbourhood Spidey after the events of Captain America: Civil War as he tries to balance high school life and fighting bad guys and let’s not forget those teenage hormones.

Marisa Tomei will be Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark is set to make an appearance. Michael Keaton is rumoured to be the villain called The Vulture, with Logan Marshall-Green as another scoundrel. The huge cast also includes Donald Glover, Zendaya, Martin Starr and Tony Revolori.

I like this casting! Rice is going to be a great actress when she grows up and to steal scenes from Crowe and Gosling, in which they were fantastic in, shows how talented she will be and don’t be surprised if I or smarter people say she’s the next Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie.

People online have already started speculating who the 15-year-old could be playing and the top two candidates are Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy, previously played by Kirsten Dunst in Sami Raimi’s Spider-Man and Emma Stone in the most recent Amazing Spider-Man films.

Both are easy choices and iconic characters in Parker’s life, however, there is one other character Rice could play and it’s a dark horse, Felicia Hardy aka The Black Cat.

The character has only been used once and was played by Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones and she was easily forgettable in the role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. So Sony and Marvel could easily revisit the character with no added baggage. Plus, they can let Rice be Hardy for a while and let her grow to become The Black Cat in the comics.

What do you think? Is Rice going to be MJ or Gwen or do you think she could be Felicia Hardy? Tweet me @Shaun_Wren.
