Carrie, Scarface, The Untouchables, Carlito’s Way, Mission: Impossible and even a music video for Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark. Brian De Palma has had an incredible career.
DE PALMA is a documentary in which film director Brian De Palma talks about his life and career.
This is a differently a documentary for film fans and cinephiles alike and it’s a no brainer it’s a must see for fans of De Palma and it was a fascinating to watch. You also need to see this if you're about to study film at University or want to become apart for the industry.

De Palma has this onscreen presence that draws you in and you could sit there listening to his stories all day and despite making mainly darker/horror based films, he does show his humorous side.
You’ll learn so much about what does behind making a film, the ups and downs of Hollywood and his relationships with the likes of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Martin Scorsese.
As well as the behind the scenes issues involving Oliver Stone, Michael J Fox and as a young director having to re-shoot the same scene with Orson Wells because he wasn’t learning his lines and his issues with the American film rating board.
It was amazing to learn Universal wanted to re-release Scarface, but with an Hip-hop/Rap sound and it sounded terrible.

It was amazing to learn if it wasn’t for De Palma, Scorsese might haven’t directed Taxi Driver and also Robert De Nero starred in De Palma’s early films, so maybe he had something to do with him getting the lead role in Taxi Driver.
The opening shots we learn De Palma is a huge fan of French cinema and Alfred Hitchcock, his earlier films rather than the later films, and you can see how he used certain shots to copy to give his films more impact.

Because I feel this film will only be seen by cinephiles, I feel it might have been a smarter move after a couple of weeks in cinemas to put it on Netflix or just it go straight up on the streaming service and have his library. So after the documentary, people can go and check out films like Scarface and Casualties of War.
Verdict
The perfect film for film fans to spend an hour and 40 minutes. I’ll even urge casual audiences to see this film, but I do think it should go up on Netflix ASAP.
