Mad Max: Fury Road Is Set To Be Getting A Furiosa-Led Prequel

Who would have thought last summer’s Mad Max: Fury Road would become a huge success, after decades away from the big screen, which would lead it to become one of the big winners at this year’s Oscars.

One of the standouts from the blockbuster was Charlize Theron’s mega kickass Furiosa.

She was such a hit with audiences they were begging for more as either part of the sequel or as a standalone.

It comes with great news (via Digital Spy) we’ll be getting a prequel focusing on her backstory.

George Miller is said to be returning to write and direct the next story in this franchise, which he started in 1979, with Tom Hardy returning to the role of Max. The film is reportedly set to start production as early as the backend of this year.

It’s going to be interesting what story Miller decides to tell because Max and Furiosa didn’t seem to know each other in Fury Road and it’s going to be an interesting balancing act to tell the story of both characters set before the events of the previous film.

You can relive the movie when the long-awaited Mad Max: Fury Road – Black & Chrome Edition is released in December.
