Doctor Strange Is Coming To The UK Even Earlier

Marvel fans in the UK are a lucky bunch as Marvel Studios (and other top Hollywood studios) release their films earlier here in good old Blighty than in the US.

Confirming the news on Twitter this morning (7th September), the UK is getting an earlier release of Doctor Strange. We can now expect to see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme in cinemas on Tuesday 25th October.

It does come as a surprise as we were originally getting the Scott Derrickson-directed mystical superhero film in the UK on the 28th October. Now, we’re getting it three days earlier and nine days to feel smug towards our American cousins.

This is standard practice for Marvel, who normally spread different releases date internationally, favouring the UK and Europe over its American audience when it comes to first looks. This has happened since 2010 for the release of Iron Man 2.

Cumberbatch plays slick surgeon turned magical sorcerer, Steve Strange, and leads a stellar cast that includes Tilda Swinton, and her bald head, as The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Mads Mikkelson back on villain duties as Kaecilius (as a dyslexic, this is going to be a bitch of a name to pronounce and spell without Google).
