Captain Marvel Film Will Be An Origin Story After All

Marvel loves an origin story in their cinematic universe; Phase One was Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. Phase Two, Guardians of the Galaxy, Scarlet Witch (sort of) in Age of Ultron and Ant-Man. Finally, in Phase Three, Black Panther’s origins were sorted in Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange was going to be the last Marvel origin story.

It looks like it would be the case as Marvel’s head honcho Kevin Feige told Cinema Blend Captain Marvel will also be an origin story.

It didn’t seem the case when screenwriter Nicole Perlman told Anytime With Vin Forte, she was keen to avoid the origin story as it was too similar to DC Comics’ Green Lantern.

Brie Larson will be playing Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, a former US Air Force pilot who gets super powers when her DNA fused with Kree DNA.

During the time Perlman said, “If you were just going to do a straight adaptation of the comics, her origin story is very similar to Green Lantern, And obviously, that's not what we want to do."

Now, it looks like Feige thinks differently and told Cinema Blend “Captain Marvel is certainly an origin," he said. "It's an origin story from the start."

So will we not see her until after Infinity War now?

Larson could make a cameo in the end credits of Guardians of the Galaxy volume two and in Infinity War. Similar to meeting Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman before her upcoming standalone.

All I can say I’m looking forward to seeing Larson being the first female MCU standalone and hope they get the right director.
