Warner Bros Set Two Release Dates For 'Event' Films: Could They Be The Batman And Fantastic Beasts Sequel?

Get ready for more blockbusters in the future as Warner Bros have set aside two dates for upcoming ‘event’ films.

Exhibitor Relations, a long-running film statistic research firm, tweeted WB have pencilled in August 27, 2019, and 7th February 2020 for their event films i.e. blockbusters. They also reminded us what the last untitled WB event film turned out to be.

Obviously, no one has a real idea what the films the studio are playing to release, but it still hasn’t stopped people speculating a superhero film could take one of the dates with Ben Affleck’s unofficially titled The Batman as the top candidate.

While that is the smart thinking behind it, let's not forget back in April, The Hollywood Reporter reported Warner Bros had set two dates for untitled DC Films on October 5, 2018, and November 1, 2019.

I think these dates hinge on how well Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them performances in the box office and if they dominate the lead up to Christmas. If it dominates, and with the studio already greenlighting a sequel, don’t be surprised if it takes the November 1st date.

Then having The Batman coming out in August would smash records and make a billion in no time.

Affleck’s Batman isn’t the only DC property to start production and filming because waiting in the wings you’ve got: Man of Steel 2, Suicide Squad sequel, Harley Quinn solo/Birds of Prey/Gotham Sirens, Booster Gold & Justice League 2.

Away from DC Films, WB has more ‘event’ franchise with Lego and Fantastic Beasts, you’ve also got to look at horror films like The Conjuring and Lights Out doing amazingly at the box office this year.

The studio could also be so confident in upcoming films like King Kong: Skull Island and King Arthur: Legend of the Sward they already have sequels planned with release dates in mind. Meanwhile, they could also be looking at a sequel to Central Intelligence?

Whatever Warner Bros decides to do, I’m sure it’s going to be newsworthy.
