Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes Is Coming With Warner Bros Setting A Writers' Room

Even though Avengers: Infinity War will begin filming in January, Robert Downey Jr is still fully focused on bringing Sherlock Holmes back to the big screen.

Variety is reporting, Warner Bros, Village Roadshow and Team Downey (Robert and his wives production company) have chosen a number of writers to work together to help shape the script for the next instalment in the franchise.

Included in this writers’ room are Guardians of the Galaxy scribe Nicole Perlman, Rogue One writer Gary Whitta, Snowden screenwriter Kieran Fitzgerald, Baywatch scribe Justin Malen and Tomb Raider screenwriter Geneva Dworet-Robinson.

Both the two previous films, 2009’s Sherlock Holmes and 2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, brought in more than $500 million worldwide and the studio always wanted to have a third instalment, but Downey has been too busy with his commitments to playing Iron Man (Tony Stark) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Downey and Jude Law, who played Watson in the past two films, will be coming back alongside director Guy Ritchie.
