In a move that has seemingly pissed off the entire internet, when are they not pissed off, Johnny Deep has signed on to co-star in the sequel of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
According to Mashable, Depp will also be making a cameo in the first film. Warner Bros are keeping the role under wraps for the time being, but there is a fan theory suggesting he called be playing the main villain, Gellert Grindelwald.

When the news broke the whole Potter-verse got on to Twitter and voiced their disappointment towards both Warner Bros and JK Rowling.
I fully understand peoples anger towards this news, here’s a man who allegedly physically abused his ex-wife and because he’s still an A-list movie star is now cast in one of the biggest family-friendly franchises in the world.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros is in a tricky situation the casting was likely finalised before the Heard/Deep stuff became public. The studio was hoping to hear excitement across social media as a major movie star is going to be apart of this huge tentpole franchise. Instead, they came across things like this:
If Johnny Depp could just not be a part of my favourite thing in the world that'd be great. pic.twitter.com/noDg2QY5Ct— Joyce (@joycevherck) 2 November 2016
I'm livid about the Johnny Depp casting. It's revealed that you attacked and abused your wife and then you get this? No. Absolutely not.— Rosianna Halse Rojas (@papertimelady) 2 November 2016
It feels like a huge betrayal honestly. These stories mean so much to so many of us. Knowing an abuser is profiting off them is upsetting.— SammyG (@aSammyG) 2 November 2016
winona ryder's career was ruined for yrs just for shoplifting but johnny depp can be abusive & immediately get cast in a big film franchise— wokus pocus (@opaIlynch) 2 November 2016
Now Johnny Depp can use a magic wand to throw bottles at women! https://t.co/jK6Jg66HlM— Nick Mundy (@dickfundy) 2 November 2016
My hope is that this cameo is a one-time thing and WB will see this isn’t the smartest move. If he is going to play the main villain in a series that will stretch throughout five films, the studio needs to recast and bring someone else onboard. You can explain why Depp was playing Grindelwald in Fantastic Beast and not in the following sequels.
They can go either Grindelwald changed his entre appearance so Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) can’t recognise him or Depp was a false Grindelwald and the main Gellert was using him to confuse Scamander.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hit UK cinemas on Friday 18th November.
