After Tim Miller dropped out of directing Deadpool 2, I’m still bummed he won’t be coming back, it looks like he’ll now be jumping over to Sony Pictures for the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Miller, who stepped down from the Deadpool sequel due to creative differences, will now be now be working alongside his longtime Blur Studio collaborator Jeff Fowler, who’ll be making his directorial debut, on a CG/live –action hybrid for the speedy blue hogs first big screen appearance.

Miller couldn’t praise Fowler enough, saying: “Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts. The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for him to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to the iconic character.”
The duo will be working with producer Neal H. Moritz (Fast and Furious franchise) with Miller acting as executive producer.
The plan is to make a family film mixing CG-animated and live-action. Writing the script is Patrick Casey and Josh Miller, both previously worked on Fox animation’s Golan the Insatiable.
Sony Pictures will be working with Marza Animation Planet, a CG animation film production company of the SEGA SAMMY Group.
No release date has been set.
