Daisy Ridley Says Star Wars: The Force Awakens Revealed Rey's Parents

It’s nearly been a whole year since Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released and dominated every box office in the world, but since then two big questions were left in the air.

Who is Supreme Leader Snoke? & Who are Rey’s parents?

The both have come to many fan theories, the latter being suggested she’s a Solo, a Skywalker, or a clone of either Empire Palpatine or Darth Vader.

In a recent interview with Time Out, while promoting documentary The Eagle Huntress, the actress was asked if she was excited for the world to learn of Rey’s parentage in Episode VIII.

“I thought a lot was answered in The Force Awakens,” she said. “Then after the screening, I went for a drink with my agent and everyone, and we were chatting away and I realised that oh, in their minds it’s not answered at all!”

This quote will most likely to get everyone getting out their Force Awakens DVD or Blu-ray and rewatch it again.

Meanwhile, I believe there are only three – five people in the world who knows of Rey’s history (it’s probably more, but under 10 people) and that’s Ridley, JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy. Plus, I think you could add Episode VII director Rian Johnson and Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow.

However, I do believe her that a member of her family was in The Force Awakens and I’m leaning more and more towards she’s the granddaughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Digital Spy has done a pretty damn good case study and we both had the same reasons. Click here to read more.

There’s also a specific rumour by Entertainment Weekly writer Anthony Breznican when he was talking to a recent podcast, saying “I have heard rumours that the one reason they haven’t moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they’re not done with Obi-Wan quite yet in the saga films. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan (solo film) happen beyond Episode XI.”

I strongly believe we’ll see a force ghost of Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan in Episode VIII talking to Luke Skywalker, but also he and Skywalker will explain to Rey about her parents and family.

Mainly because it’ll help when the Obi-Wan spinoff happens.
