Ryan Gosling the astronaut has a nice ring to it.
The actor is set to reunite with his La La Land director Damien Chazelle for the Neil Armstrong biopic, according to Variety.
Titled “First Man” the film will be based on James Hansen’s biography First Man: The Life of Neil A Armstrong and it recounts NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Armstrong and the years 1961-1969.
The film will be a first-person account and explore “the sacrifices and the cost – on Armstrong and on America – of one of the most dangerous space missions in history.”
If this film didn’t need any more Oscar pedigree the script will be written by Josh Singer, who was the scribe for the Oscar-winning movie Spotlight.
The project is set to begin in early 2017 and if Gosling and Chazelle previous work on La La Land is to go by then this could be another critical smash dunk for the duo.
What I like most about this story is Chazelle is moving away from his music based stories and more into the drama based biopic and Gosling will most likely smash the role of the park. Being set in the 60s, Chazelle has got a fantastic list of music to make one of the best soundtracks ever (I’ll put money on it, they’ll be a song from The Beatles).
You’ll be able to see La La Land on 13th January, click here to read my review.
