Could Ryan Reynolds Return To Green Lantern Or Could We See Tom Cruise In A Superhero Film?

Do you remember Ryan Reynolds pre-Deadpool days? It was largely forgetful when it came to comic-book outings, 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine (EW) and 2011’s Green Lantern (EW) – two films Reynolds and you should forget forever.

It’s time to have a fresh start to get Green Lantern right because he’s an awesome character and could join the success of Batman and Superman on screen (Wonder Woman will join Bats and Sups once the film comes out). A reboot is on the way with the two most iconic Green Lanterns – Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

The Wrap have reported casting for Hal is underway with DC Entertainment has a wishlist of six actors including Ryan Reynolds. Would he? No, he won’t.

Mainly because he’s solely focused on Deadpool and I don’t think Warner Bros and Reynolds want the baggage and Green Lantern Corps does need to be a clean, fresh start.

So who else are in contention to play Hal Jordan in Green Lantern Corps? According to The Wrap’s sources, are Tom Cruise, Armie Hammer, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Personally, I think Hammer would be a great Hal, but if they want an older Hal Jordan training a younger John Stewart then Cruise is ideal and would be a fantastic Hal.

However, I’m surprised John Krasinski isn’t on the list because he has a great look and could have a similar career to Chris Pratt.

Man of Steel and The Dark Knight writer David S Goyer and a known writer Justin Rhodes are assigned to writing Green Lantern Corps based on a story from Goyer and DC co-chief Geoff Johns.

It’ll apparently centre on introducing African-American war hero John Stewart joining the intergalactic space force known as the Green Lanterns and focusing on his partnership with a veteran Lantern Hal Jordan.

At the moment Green Lantern Corps is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2020, but it’s not necessarily a set thing and could be seeing the ring-bearers sooner.
