The Final Logan Trailer Is Superb

First official trailer for Logan was one of (if not thee) best trailers of 2016 and we now have the second and final trailer before it hit cinemas this March.

This will be Hugh Jackman’s final (maybe?) appearance as Wolverine/Logan in the film which could end the year as my favourite superhero film of 2017. To me, this has The Dark Knight potential to be one of my favourite superhero films ever.

That’s how excited I am to see it and after seeing these two trailers my anticipation grows a little bit more.

Before I continue to talk about Logan, check out the trailer below.

How awesome was this trailer! It officially cements itself as an R-rated film and it’s great hearing Sir Patrick Stewart swearing as Professor X and the action looks incredible for both Jackman and the young actress Dafne Keen.

This trailer also confirms Keen is indeed playing X-23, who is the clone of Wolverine.

We also got a look at the villains hunting down X-23 and Logan, but they won’t be led by Mr Sinister as many thought and while talking to Cinemablend James Mangold explained why a more traditional villain wouldn’t fit in the film’s gritty tone.

“That’s exactly the kind of thing this movie avoids,” he said. “Meaning, that kind of operatic highly-costumed, stroboscopic villainy. That’s not this movie. Everything is kind of as real as we can make it.

“The movie is trying to kind of take a step backward from that kind of spectacle, so that we can another kind of gain, you know. There’s that loss, but this gain is that the movie feels extremely real and is – as one person who saw the film said to me, ‘I feel like I could go down the street and run into Wolverine.’ Meaning that this is in my world, not some shiny other world. This is actually taking place my world.”

I’m so glad Mangold is taking this approach as it feels super refreshing to see a proper, gritty real world look in this era of superheroes and music helps with that.

In the first trailer we had Jonny Cash’s cover of Nine Inch Nails song ‘Hurt’ and now in this final trailer we had the beautiful ‘Way Down We Go’ by Kaleo. Both songs fit perfectly into what Mangold want to tell in the final chapter of Logan and the soundtrack of this film is going to be incredible.

The final thing I want to touch on is we saw some human moments with Logan and X-23 sitting at the dinner table laugh with friends and I think these human moments will make the film to wonderful for me because one way or another it isn’t going to end perfectly and I’m ready for it.

I know I’m 80% certain to cry at the end of this film, but by god, it’s going to be a wonderful time.

Logan takes his final bow in UK cinemas on 1st March.
