Kong: Skull Island is pure EPIC!! (and I hate using that word) it’s beautiful with a superbly acted cast and brilliantly directed Jordan Vogt – Roberts.

Kong: Skull Island tells the story of a diverse team of scientists, soldiers and adventurers uniting to explore a mystical, uncharted island in the Pacific, as dangerous as it is beautiful. Cut off from everything they know, the team ventures into the domain of the mighty Kong, igniting the ultimate between man and nature. As their mission of discovery becomes one of survival, they must fight to escape a primal Eden in which humanity does not belong.

If one of your big issues was not seeing enough of Godzilla, don’t worry there’s no fucking around and you’ll get to see Kong very early in the film.

Honestly, this is a war movie with the added bonus with a massive ape and I can’t undersell the size of Kong, seriously see this film on the biggest screen possible.

It wasn’t just Kong, all the monsters were HUGE and there was a nice balance of beautiful creatures in this outstanding backdrop and the monsters that were threats and were scary.

The fight scenes throughout were brilliant and it was great to see Kong just smashing shit up! Also, Vogt – Roberts used slow-mo really well and it added to fight scenes like Rocky.

It was fast flowing action and I liked the fact it was non-stop, but it also gave you time breath.

I enjoyed the 70s setting has it suited the film perfectly mainly because the music made me feel like I’m at home.

You’ll be seeing this film because you want to see Kong rec shop, but the whole human cast was superb. Obviously, Larson and Hiddleston were great, but Jackson was the MVP and Reilly was the film’s biggest surprise.

The worry for Reilly was he was going to a walk joke machine, but he wasn’t his character had real depth and felt an emotional connection towards him.

Meanwhile, Jackson could’ve been a really bland villain, but instead, the failed Vietnam War broke him as a man and while he’s trying to regain his manhood, it turned him into a psychopath.

Elsewhere, Larson was never the damsel in distress, if anything, she was the strongest character in the whole.

Don’t be mistaken this is Hiddleston’s James Bond audition.

Vogt – Roberts directed this film brilliantly and you’ll be hearing his name a lot. Since LEGO Batman’s Chris McKay is handling the Nightwing movie, this beautifully bearded man would make an incredible Flash movie.

Verdict
A beautiful, non-stop action war film with the added bonus of Kong smashing shit up!
