Ben Affleck & Gavin O'Connor In Talks To Return For The Accountant 2

Despite not being a massive hit with critics (they were split 50/50) and not doing amazing in the US box office, Warner Bros are looking into give The Accountant a sequel.

In the original, Ben Affleck is an autistic mathematical genius who is a brilliant accountant; he’s so good he helps criminals fix their books. He soon gets caught up in a violent conflict with the Treasury Department.

Even though the critics with split and only doing $86.2 million in the US box office, but thanks to the worldwide box hitting just over $155 million and on a budget of just $44 million (via Box Office Mojo). This film was a success for Warner Bros, so a sequel could’ve happened.

It sounds like the studio is fully behind this idea as Deadline reveals director Gavin O’Connor and screenwriter Bill Dubuque are in talks to return for another instalment with Affleck and producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams also in discussions.

It still too early to know what the sequel storyline will be, but the publication does go on to add Jon Bernthal will likely come back and play a bigger role.

The next time we’ll see Affleck is as Batman in Justice League, which is due to come out November 17.

This could be the perfect film for Affleck to do and can get/stay in “Batman” shape, while Matt Reeves is working on The Batman.
