This past weekend, An Englishman in San Diego (via Batman News) contributor Mark Searby was in London and he bumped into none other than Joss Whedon.
Obviously, Whedon is in the UK capital helming additional scenes and reshoots for Justice League while the film’s director Zack Snyder takes some time off to be with his family.

During the quick selfie, Searby told Whedon he was excited to see the Justice League footage he’ll be bringing to San Diego Comic-Con next month. To which the director replied “I won’t be there. Only the second time in twenty years I won’t make it.”
Whedon’s quote alone shows how important SDCC is to him, but this sounds right as he’ll be busy filming these JL scenes and in the editing bay. However, Justice League will have massive presents in Hall H and no doubt they’ll be a panel with the cast and Geoff Johns but I do hope he leaves a message for fans during the Warner Bros/DC Films panel.

Meanwhile, with Whedon unable to attend, I think this gives a bigger boost to the possibility of Snyder making a surprise appearance and this is down to if he wants too.
This is because Snyder loves Comic-Con – he flew overnight during the filming of both Batman v Superman & Justice League – and what a great way for fans to show their love and support toward him and his family to come on stage to come out last and the atmosphere in Hall H would be electric.
He can introduce the brand new trailer and talk about the film he’s worked so hard with his cast. Afterwards, maybe go to the signing area, like after the BvS panel and then go home feeling the love and support.
What would be awesome if both directors were together as a united front, but this should be Snyder’s moment.
