War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves is in the early stages of promoting his new film, but even though reporters have seemingly learned from the Ben Affleck issue, it hasn’t stopped them from asking questions about The Batman.
Reeves has repeatedly said he’s just started working on The Batman, but obviously, he can’t be fully focused on the DCEU film until he’s fully finished with Apes. However, he did give an insight into how he’s tackling the Dark Knight.
“In all the films, what I try to do, in an almost Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become the character and you empathise with that point of view,” Reeves told New Trailer Buzz.
“There’s a chance to do an almost noir-driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way that hopefully is going to connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside his heart.”

This seems to be the perfect answer for Reeves to give as fans have always wanted to see the detective side to Batman on the big screen since he is own as “the world’s greatest detective.”
Furthermore, given how the director has made us feel for a bunch of CGI apes to the point we’re rooting for Caesar and co to kill humans and we think mankind is shit.
Staying with Apes, Reeves has once again talked about the similarities between Batman and Caesar, “They’re both characters who are tortured and trying to grapple within themselves to find a way to do the right thing in a very imperfect, and to some degree, corrupt world.”
With Reeves also confirming Ben Affleck will still be his Batman, this solo film could be incredible and the fact we could see “noir-drive” film, I’m hoping for a Black and White version of The Batman.
