For fans wanting to see Tom Hardy’s Venom be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kevin Feige has some bad news for you.
In a Facebook live-streamed Q&A with on Tuesday (13th June), Marvel Studios boss Feige was directly asked if he had any plans to integrate Venom similar to Spider-Man.
“No plans to include him in the MCU right now,” Feige replied to the French based Allocine around the 10-minute mark then added, “[the Venom movie] is Sony’s project.
This must seem to be a blow to many fans, who were hoping to see Hardy in the MCU as Eddie Brook/ Venom in a deal between Marvel and Sony using Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as a backdoor entrance.
While a good idea, it looked like it wasn’t going to happen as reports suggest Sony want to see Venom having an R-rated horror vibe, which is perfect and it wouldn’t fit in the family-friendly MCU.

I know fans are nervous about Sony doing this Spidey-less Marvel Universe, but we should give them a chance to bring us more superhero/comic based films as this film wouldn’t happen if Disney/Marvel Studios had the rights to the character.
So while Feige hasn’t fully closed the door at the moment, it does seem very unlikely and Sony is moving forward with their Marvel Universe with Venom and a Black Cat and Silver Sable film called Silver and Black.
Venom will be starting to film this Autumn and expected to meet a release date of October 5, 2018.
