No Disney movie has this much pressure and anticipation than the remake/reimaging of The Lion King.
So getting the voice talent right is the biggest thing and Disney and director Jon Favreau have started off perfectly. Firstly, bringing back James Earl Jones to reprise the role of Mufasa, then Donald Glover was cast as Simba, meanwhile, talk show host John Oliver will be Zazu.
There’s still one important casting to be made with Simba’s loving uncle Scar yet to be found.
It looks like the search is over as The Wrap is reporting 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor is lined up to voice the baddie.

Ejiofor is no stranger (pun not intended) to playing a villain as we’ll see him return to the role of the good guy turned bad Mordo in the sequel of Doctor Strange.
It makes perfect sense the Mouse House would pick one of their own and Ejiofor is a fantastic choice.
The 1994 animated classic followed the 90s trend of having a British villain with Scar voiced beautifully and sinisterly by Jeremy Irons.
Some fans were even wondering if Irons would reprise the role, while I thought Tom Hardy would’ve been a decent choice. However, Ejiofor has a deep, brilliant voice to do something decent.
As for the other casting, comedians Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen are attached as Timon and Pumbaa. Beyonce is rumoured to be voicing Nala.
With this growing voice cast and Favreau helming, this film has the possibility for overtaking the brilliance of director’s previous Disney remake of The Jungle Book.
The Lion King is slated to hit US cinemas (probably UK screens too) on July 19, 2019.
