Joss Whedon Will Get Justice League Writing Credit

When Zack Snyder brought in Joss Whedon to help with writing additional scenes and direct the reshoots after stepping down for a family tragedy, it was granted Whedon would be getting some sort of credit, but what?

Now we know and it could mean these scenes will be a part of the film as it’s been confirmed he’ll be getting a screenplay credit alongside Chris Terrio.

Thanks to Warner Bros’ Fall (Autumn) 2017 preview, Snyder is still officially named as the film’s director, so that’s one thing taken care of. Snyder is also credited with Terrio for writing the story. Finally, Terrio is sharing screenplay credit with Whedon.

This DOES NOT mean the Avengers helmer rewrote 50% for the screenplay!

It’s a very complicated and confusing (check out Screen Rant for a brilliant in-depth piece), but it involves the Writers Guild of America and their rules on an adapted screenplay.

Basically, Whedon will be contributing a minimum of 33% and as stated by Screen Rant.

“We can look back to some of the information we already know to get an idea of how it corroborates Whedon getting to that 33% mark. Again, the 33%, as seen by the WGA, isn’t 33% of lines, or 33% of the scenes, or 33% of runtime, but a weighted 33%, meaning even just one scene – if it’s seen as the lynchpin of the movie – could be enough to earn them that spot.”

This means if the rumours are true that the ending has changed from a cliffhanger for Justice League 2 to a capped ending make it focused to be one film. Then of course and it’s only right Whedon gets credit for it.

What’s also a good sign we’ll be seeing Snyder’s Justice League with additional elements from Whedon, which I think will please everyone from fans who wanted this film to be Snyder’s vision but knowing having the Avengers helmer is a bonus.

I can’t wait for Justice League and we’re under three months to go!
