INS & OUTS

After a number of experienced players retired at the end of last season and Chris Ashton moving to Toulon, Saracens have been on a bit of a recruitment drive.

They haven’t too bad either with British &Irish Lions star Liam Williams replacing Ashton and the Welsh international is joined by Calum Clark and Wallabies lock Will Skelton.

INS – Calum Clark (Northampton Saints), Dominic Day (Melbourne Rebels), Kieran Longbottom (Sale Sharks), Will Skelton (Waratahs), Christopher Tolofua (Toulouse), Liam Williams (Scarlets), Tom Griffiths, Hayden Thompson-Stringer, Tom Whitely (Academy).

OUTS – Chris Ashton (Toulon), Petrus Du Plessis (London Irish), Tom Lindsey (Bedford Blues), George Perkins (Bristol Rugby), Jared Saunders (Jersey Reds), Brian Tuilagi (Dax), Samu Vanisa (Glasgow Warriors), Fa’atiga Lemalu (released), Tim Streather Neil De Kock, Jim Hamilton, Kelly Brown (all retired).

Verdict

Saracens have done some good business bringing in Williams, Clark and experience of Dominic Day will benefit them during the Autumn Internationals and Six Nations and signing Owen Farrell to a new contract is a major boost.

This is set to be a big season for Nick Isiekwe. He was a surprise inclusion in the England summer tour of Argentina and was impressive and he could make an impression in the Anglo-Welsh cup and when Itoje and Kruis are playing for England.

Obviously, they’ll be in the top four and get to the Premiership final, but could just miss out on the title.

Prediction – 2nd (Runners Up)
