It seems like news round DC Films is slowing down but we’re still getting nuggets and it could look like fans of the DC Universe could be in for a great time during this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con.
The main reason is because we could finally be getting news on Man of Steel 2 and a release date is coming sooner then we’re expecting.

The rumour comes from the El Fanboy podcast, but this rumour should be taken with a grain of salt, and host Mario-Francisco Robles (Editor-In-Chief of Revenge Of The Fans) is stating Man of Steel 2 could be hitting cinemas in 2020.
If this is the case then a script has been in the works behind-the-scenes for a while and that Henry Cavill’s manager Dany Garcia, who’s also Dwayne Johnson’s manager, has been on Warner Bros case that not only will he finish his current contract with a cameo in Shazam! but once Mission: Impossible – Fallout becomes one of the biggest movies this summer, Cavill will be getting a bigger payday.
Staying with M: I6, it could very well be likely director Christopher McQuarrie could helm the Superman sequel after his working relationship with the English actor went brilliantly.
It seems like this is the calibre of director DC Films President Walter Hamada is looking to bring in.
Someone else he’s looking at is Peter Jackson as he’s been offered either returning to Middle Earth to handle Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series or coming in for a DC movie.
It feels like after spending after of his career in Middle Earth with the LOTR and The Hobbit films, it’s possible he’ll take the DC offer with fans speculating he’ll either take the Green Lantern Corps and create a cosmic DC Universe or he could follow his horror roots and go with Justice League Dark.

Elsewhere, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey movie is taking more shape as they plan to start filming later this year or January 2019 and Heroic Hollywood are reporting a rumour that they’re looking at hiring an all-female crew to work on the film.
Cathy Yan will be directing the project with Robbie serving as a producer and Christina Hodson wrote the screenplay. So it’s likely we’ll hear news of a female cinematograph being attached soon.

While I like the idea and it’ll be a major boost for women in the industry but surely hiring the best person for the job man or woman should get it because otherwise, it becomes a bit of a token film.
Meanwhile, in the latest episode of will Ben Affleck stay or go as Batman took another surprising turn as a new rumour was spreading around Twitter is that Affleck wants to now stay as the Dark Knight.

The rumour comes from Twitter user @DanielRPK (via Batman News) who has been reliable in the past, but if this does become true then it sounds like he’s excited or at least likely what Hamada is saying and doing with the DC films.
Tag it under rumor for now; I hear Ben Affleck now wants to stick around as the DCEU's Batman.— Daniel R (@DanielRPK) 14 May 2018
However, much like the fans, I’m sure the DC Chief just wants an answer either way so he can plan his course moving forward looking for someone new to take over the cowl instead of this playground bullshit.
Finally, whatever happens, it’s possible Superman and Wonder Woman will be the leads of the DC Universe moving forward as we won’t believe Affleck is staying until he signs a contact live at SDCC or when we see the first teaser trailer he appears in.
This summer’s SDCC will be an insight into what Warner Bros and Hamada’s plans are as we’ll likely get a full-length Aquaman trailer plus posters and character images, a Shazam! teaser trailer and then hit us with all the news to get fans excited.
