Get ready world as after years for American franchises dominating, it’s time for us Brits to get involved and the perfect person is leading the charge with Matthew Vaughn.
Sure we've had Harry Potter and now Fantastic Beasts but they’re under Warner Bros, this is something truly built in Britain.
Vaughn has been one of the best UK filmmakers being involved for the last 15 years directing a cult classic in Stardust, then you have the Kingsman films, Kick-Ass and Layer Cake to name but a few. Additionally, under his production company Marv we've also seen films like Eddie The Eagle and Harry Brown.
Which is why it was super fucking exciting to see Empire Magazine exclusively reveal that Vaughn is setting up his own studio called Marv Studios with him describing it as “the modern version of what a studio can be.”
Vaughn went on to reveal what exciting things he already has lined up.
“We’re going to reboot Kick-Ass and Hit- Girl” Vaughn confirmed and even though nothing has been official in regards of character or casting. The 47-year-old has hinted the films will be focusing on Patience Lee, an African-American single mum who takes over the Kick-Ass mantle.

Meanwhile, staying in the Kick-Ass world, there has also been discussions of a solo Hit-Girl film either focusing on an older Mindy Macready (maybe Chloe Grace Moretz could reprise the role?) or looking back at her younger years under the guidance of Big Daddy.
Vaughn didn’t give much less away simply stating “Look what Mark Millar is doing in the comic for clues.”
Elsewhere, after two successful films, the filmmaker in all case and proposes is expanding Kingsman into a franchise. This will include a third “regular” Kingsman film being “the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship” said Vaughn.
Then you’ll see a spin-off titled Kingsman: The Great Game with the film being a 2-parter and will shoot back-to-back with the project diving into the spy organisation during the 1900s.

Furthermore, they’ll also be a Statesman film involving around the US agents with Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum and Hailee Berry reprising their roles. Finally, on the way will be an eight-hour Kingsman TV show.

The final thing the filmmaker revealed is Marv Studios will be co-producing Paramount’s Elton John biopic Rocketman and will see Taron Egerton re-teaming with his Eddie The Eagle helmer Dexter Fletcher with Vaughn describing it as “the first R-rated musical” full of “drugs, sex, rock’n’roll.”
More info about Matthew Vaughn’s ambitious plans for Marv Studios will be unveiled in the latest issue of Empire Magazine that will be released next week and will defiantly be a must read.
I hope we’ll hear news on a Stardust sequel as the film is a modern day family film classic and I don’t know why it isn’t shown every year during Christmas.
