Is Armie Hammer The New Batman? Who The Fuck Knows

Ever since Matt Reeves gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter a couple of weeks ago revealing more info about his Batman movie a lot has happened.

Ben Affleck has confirmed he has retired as the Dark Knight on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night talk show last week and now everyone is moving on to fancasting or predicting as to be donning the cowl next.

If the reports and rumours are true then the studio and Reeves will be looking for a younger actor to play Bruce Wayne with myself and plenty of other fans believing 28/29 will be the perfect age.

However, last night it was reported that Warner Bros and the Apes filmmaker has found their next Batman as Revenge of the Fans are stating Armie Hammer is in “final talks” to play Batman.

This wouldn’t be the first time Hammer would’ve been cast as the Caped Crusader as he was originally going to play the character in George Miller’s infamous cancelled Justice League Mortal in 2007. Since then the actor has gone on to have a successful career in big budget films and smaller indies.

On the other hand, a few hours after the story broke a number of film reporters and bloggers came out to take a massive dump on this story with The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez first to shut the rumour down and if (understandably) waited until someone higher profile then trust the words of THR’s Borys Kit.

I think while Hammer’s 32 years may not be too old to play Batman and I for one wouldn’t mind to seeing him drive the Batmobile talking over from Affleck. It does seem the younger actor is the way everyone involved is going.

This would mean the door is still open for my top pick Aaron Taylor-Johnson to clinch the role, but wouldn’t be against Robert Patterson being cast.
