Trailer Park Wednesday

It was trailer park Wednesday has three different trailers were released in a space of a few hours.

We got the first look at the Ben-Hur remake starring Jack Huston and Morgan Freeman and then Daniel Radcliffe is causing trouble for The Four Horsemen in the UK trailer for Now You See Me 2 and finally Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart team up for Central Intelligence.

Let’s start with Ben-Hur, and it’s amazing to think there hasn’t been a remake of Charlton Heston’s 1959 classic (ask your dad or granddad) until now and I think it’s prime for a re-telling and Huston could be the right actor to lead this film.

However, even though I did like the opening shot of Ben-Hur on the boat the first of the trailer felt a little CG heavy and the story lacking and a bit boring. Also, seeing Morgan Freeman with dreadlocks is both hilarious and ridiculous.

Here’s the synopsis: This is the story of Judah Ben-Hur (Huston), a prince who is falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer of the Roman army. He’s separated from the woman he loves Esther (Nazanin Boniadi) and thrown into slavery, where he spends the next five years. But then the Roman galley he’s aboard is shipwrecked  and he finds himself with a chance at revenge, helped by the wisdom and training from Ilderim (Freeman). And he gets his big chance during a chariot race.

Because you can’t have Ben-Hur without chariot racing. And Ben-Hur will be hitting UK cinemas on Friday 26th August.

Next up and In 2013 Now You See Me became sort of a sleeper hit and if something makes money, then you’ll be getting a sequel, even though it may not be needed. But Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco and Woody Harrelson have all return with new member Lizzy Caplan coming in for Isla Fisher as part of The Four Horsemen for illusions/crime/comedy Now You See Me 2.

Joining the returning cast, which also include Freeman, Mark Ruffalo and Micheal Caine, is Daniel Radcliffe as villain and tech prodigy Walter Mabry. Mabry is causing havoc for J. Daniel Atlas (Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Harrelson), Jack Wilder (Franco) and Lula (Caplan) AKA The Four Horsemen to pull off their most daring heist yet and to clear their name.

I didn’t mind it, there were some nice moments and I’m interested in seeing how Radcliffe is as a villain and see if they say something referring to Harry Potter. My one worry is that the scene of them going down a pipe and ending up in China won’t be explained and it really needs to be so that the “magic” stays realistic.

Now You See Me 2 will appear in UK cinemas on Monday 4th July.

Finally, The Rock and Kevin Hart pair up for comedy Central Intelligence and it was great.

The first trailer was basically Dwayne Johnson blowing shit up and Hart looking terrified and we got a little tease of digital fat Johnson which was my highlight. Now this trailer kicks off with that same scene and it’s funny and we also got more back story with Hart being the most popular guy in school and Johnson being the loser.

It’s great seeing The Rock showing his comedy chops more because he’s a really funny guy, which some of his old WWE promos, and with Johnson being the comical relief it makes Hart’s straight man even funny.

I’ve got high hopes for this film as Johnson is so god damn charismatic, you’re just drawn to him and Hart is a hilarious comic, but scripts like Get Hard and Ride Along haven’t shown it.

Central Intelligence hits UK cinemas on Friday 1st July.
