Weekly Movie News Round Up

It’s been a busy movie news week (like every week) and I thought of giving you a roundup of the biggest news happening.

Including Ben Affleck getting a new job within Warner Bros/DC, Russell Crowe playing a classic monster, and the young Han Solo seems to have been found. Plus it’s time to relive our 90’s childhood all over again.

Ben Affleck Move To Executive Producer For Justice League

Justice League is currently in the early stages of production/shooting and The Hollywood Reporter have revealed Ben Affleck will not only star as Batman, but he will also be working alongside Chris Terrio with rewrites on the script.

He will also working with Zack Snyder is the post production and the film’s editing team.

It must be stressed he IS NOT taking the film away from Snyder, whom he has praised repeatedly, but it does look likely it will be Snyder’s last directed DC film.

The fact, Affleck is taking more of a hands on role with writing and production will mean great things for the DCU moving forward.

Russell Crowe Confirmed To Play Dr. Jekyll  In The Mummy Reboot

In a world of cinematic universes Universal wasn’t going to miss out and they decided to kick start the Universal Monsters Universe with the first film being The Mummy starring Tom Cruise.

Now another A lister will be going the film and universe, Russell Crowe confirmed his involvement while talking to Collider during his promotion for The Nice Guys saying.

“Yeah, I’m gonna do it. I‘m gonna play Dr. Henry Jekyll, Fellow of the Royal Society. It’s very interesting, what they’re gonna do with that stuff. I’ve had a couple of chats about it with the director (Alex Kurtzman).” 

Crowe also added this film is “designed to seriously scare the shit out of you.”

Alden Ehrenreich Will Be The Young Han Solo

After a long casting process it looks like Hail Caesar!’s Alden Ehrenreich has clinched the role of Han Solo in the character’s solo film.

It must be said this is a “sources tell us” stories from the New York Post and hasn’t been officially confirmed be Disney/Lucasfilm.

The film is written by Lawrence Kasdan (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and his son Jon and is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21&22 Jump Street, The Lego Movie).

If the story is true, then Ehrenreich’s Solo will also be making a cameo in Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One.

First Look At The New Power Ranger Suits

If you’re a child of the 90’s (like me) then you’ll differently remember the Power Rangers and you’ll also remember being a ranger at school because that’s what the cool kids and nerdy kids did. 

Now fast forward to 2016 and the Power Rangers are coming to the big screen to make you relive your childhood! Yay?

A few weeks back Entertainment Weekly revealed the first look at Elizabeth Banks in costume as Power Ranger villain Rita Repulsa.

Now the US magazine has turned to the heroes to show off the new Power Ranger armoured suits, no more spandex for these actors and actresses.

More of unknowns the five rangers from left to right. Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and finally RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy.
