Angelina Jolie is in talks to join the Sir Kenneth Branagh directed Murder on the Orient Express, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter.
If Jolie does decide to join the project she’ll play Mrs.
Harriet Hubbard, a role once played by Lauren Bacall in the 1974 movie).
Fox has wanted to do a film based on Agatha Christie’s murder
mystery for years and shooting is expected to start in November in London and
then move to Malta.
In case you don’t know that the story is about, it centres on
detective Hercule Poirot, who boards a train from Jerusalem to Europe. A murder
takes place in the car next door during a snowstorm and it’s up to Poirot to
figure out who the murderer/murderers are before there’s another victim.
As well as direct, Branagh will also star as Poirot and will
also be producing alongside Ridley Scott.
If this film becomes a medium success, I wouldn’t be surprised
if Fox greenlit more Agatha Christie novels with Jolie attached to direct one.
Murder on the Orient Express is set to release in US cinemas
on November 22, 2017.
Story was first reported in The Daily Mail.
