When you have Disney and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson coming together you have two of the biggest movie brands to officially rule the world. Moana is the next film coming out of Disney animation following billion dollar making Zootropolis.
Moana follows the title character (voiced by Auli’i
Chravalho), a free-spirited teenager living in the South Pacific, who sails out
on a daring mission to save her people. On her journey she meets Maui (Johnson)
a once-mighty demigod who needs help himself. Check the teaser below.
The first official teaser focus' on Maui which makes plenty of sense letting the world’s biggest movie star to promote the hell out of this film. Plus, I think Johnson has a lot of personal attachment due to his Samoan heritage and can’t wait to see his haka.
There’s plenty of talent working behind the scenes, with Aladdin/ Little Mermaid duo Ron Clements and John Musker directing, who worked on the script alongside Zootropolis’ Jared Bush, What We Do In The Shadows and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and author Pamela Ribon. The music will be provided by Lin-Manuel Miranda (who won multiple Tony’s for Hamilton), Opetata Foa’i and Mark Mancina.
