BONUS DC Film News

Get ready for an extra dose of DC Film News as after I posted the round-up of news about the Suicide Squad (click here to find out more), there was even more news that come out of the DC Universe.

Lucky for you I’ve got it all here for you to catch up.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition

I talked about the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition on my podcast (click here to listen) but I thought I’d let you know more details.

This Ultimate Edition comes out in the UK on 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and Ultra HD on August 1st or you can get the digital copy two weeks earlier on July 18th. As well as getting the theatrical version of the film, you’ll be able to watch 30 minutes of story and unseen action.

Not only will you get the added 30 minutes, depending on how you feel about the movie, it’ll make it better or less worst, but if you get the Blu-ray you’ll get all the special features:

If you didn’t like this film, I know 30 minutes will ultimately not change your mind. Ontheotherhand if you’re like me who liked the film, but then there were a few elements missing, then I think you should get it.

Because I have a feeling I’m going to be sitting and watching it and going “now why wasn’t that in the theatrical release?!” but despite what people think I’m going to get it in August and enjoy it.

Then again, judging by Larry Fong tweet it looks like it’ll still spilt opinion.

Rick Famuyiwa Will Be Directing The Flash

After some great investigating by Batman News, Deadline revealed ‘Dope’ director Rick Famuyiwa will be coming on and helming The Flash starring Ezra Miller.

Deadline are also reporting Famuyiwa will be using a script by Seth Grahame-Smith and template from Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 & 22 Jump Street, The Lego Movie).

Now I’m not too familiar with Famuyiwa’s work, but I believe ‘Dope’ is on Nexfilx and what I’m getting from the buzz of people who have seen the film that this is a good move by DC and Warner Bros.

I’m happier this project has got more of an experienced director on board instead of a first time director in Grahame-Smith. Plus, I’ll check out ‘Dope’ but judging from the trailer getting someone who can add youth and fun to the Justice Leagues youngest member can only be good news.

Other DC Film News

During this week’s episode of Heroic Insider, Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez rumoured the possible titles for the upcoming Justice League Film. This led to other news stories and film blogs to run the story.

This, I’m guessing, led to people flooding DC Films’ co-leader Geoff Johns with tweets to which he put the story to bed right way by revealing the film’s title and it’s quiet simple.

Meanwhile, a French magazine Cinema Teaser released their Suicide Squad covers and I love The Joker one so much it needs to be an official poster. Plus more character and group posters came out.

Elsewhere, Jesse Eisenberg was speaking at London Comic Con and confirmed he will be coming back for Justice League.

This makes a lot of sense because if you’ve seen Batman v Superman then you’ll know he as a lot of knowledge of what’s going to happen when Darkseid comes. Also, I don’t think he’ll be in the film long, maybe one or two scenes of him in jail talking to Batman or Superman.

Eisenberg’s BvS and Justice League co-star Jeremy Irons (whose scenes with Ben Affleck stole the film) told The Daily Mail Batman v Superman deserved to get the kicking it did describing it as “muddled” and “overstuffed”. He did go on to say Justice League will be “simpler. The script is certainly a lot smaller, it’s more linear.”

Finally, could Channing Tatum be joining the DCU?

During their investigation of Famuyiwa directing a DC movie, Batman News also saw the director followed Tatum. Now this is just pure speculation at this time, however, I do have to trust them on this as Tatum’s Gambit movie at Fox looks like it’s dead in the water, so it looks like the Magic Mike star could be free to star in other superhero films.

Just one more quick thing, I suggest you follow Jason Momoa on Instagram because seeing him getting pissed on Guinness in London whilst filming Justice League is great entertainment. Yes he is licking Ezra Miller's face.
