A couple of weeks back pictures immerged of J.K. Simmons looking ripped and he internet went crazy, with many assuming he was getting ready for his role as Jim Gorden (or Gym Gorden as many renamed him) in the upcoming Justice League.
It turns out Simmons has also been that shredded telling
Business Insider he didn’t gain those impressive guns for the DC Comics movie
and goes to the gym regularly to stay in shape.
"Those were shot at the end of April. I'm huge
now!" Simmons joked.
"After the second and final time that I got hugely fat
in my life and when I lost that weight six or seven years ago, I pretty much
decided that I was going to stay in decent shape for the rest of my life."
The 61 year old got motivated to get fit after seeing
himself in episodes of the 1997 TV series Oz, where he played neo-Nazi Vern,
saying “I was overweight and soft and here I am playing the head of the Aryan
Brotherhood in this maximum-security prison in the first-ever HBO original
drama.

"I was watching the first season when it came out and I
just thought, 'Wow, I don't believe this guy at all. I have to get my ass to
the gym and be a believable hardass.'"
I think the motivation he has at his age is amazing and I
don’t only hope I look as good as Simmons does when I’m 61, but I want to look
as ripped as he does as a 23 year old!
Justice League will hit UK cinemas on November 17th, 2017.
