Get ready ladies (and gents, I’ll keep your secret) Channing Tatum is bringing Magic Mike from screen to stage.
Plans are still in place to extend the Magic Mike series, or
can we call it a franchise, but you won't be going to the cinema instead you can experience it live.
Following the success of Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL,
there were talks of Tatum doing a third film, however, the Jump Street star
announced the next two projects in the series will be a Broadway Musical and a
Las Vegas dance show. I do hear Vegas is a good place to visit.
#ICYMI: @MagicMikeLive's headed to @HardRockHotelLV. #puppies #shirtlessdudes @cosmopolitan https://t.co/4OyGGz8HJ0https://t.co/msBNfoyBb9— Channing Tatum (@channingtatum) 5 May 2016
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Tatum revealed “The
third instalment will be the show, and I think it has to evolve past these
guys,” adding “The first one was about Mike, the second one was about the guys
and I think the third one is really about man and woman having a conversation
about sex and themselves and who we all are. That’s the next step I would like
to take with the story.”
Tatum also said the Broadway show has a “brilliant,
brilliant” director attached and they’re working on the script adding “It’s
tough, because you don’t want to just come out with all this stuff. We are
slowly boiling down [ideas] to see which one works.”
It may surprise a lot of you, as a 23 year old straight male, but I enjoy watching the Magic
Mike films! The first one was a brilliant drama and the sequel was fun and I
smiled throughout. I still think you can watch it with a group of male mates
and have a laugh.
