Shazam! has been a film that’s been slated by Warner Bros’ sister studio New Line to be part of the DCEU for years to the point it became a bit of a joke because it seemed to be a decade since Dwayne Johnson was cast as Black Adam.
However, we finally have news as The Hollywood Reporter revealed that not only is their movement, but the film is now sprinting towards a start date as it’ll be the next DC movie to start production in January or February 2018.
It’s likely to be released in 2019 and David F. Samberg will be directing the feature. Which he felt out stated during an IMDb interview at San Diego Comic Con.
THR also states it’s unsure if Johnson will be appearing in the movie as he’s attached to produce and star in a Black Adam solo film about the villain/anti-hero.
Meanwhile, Umberto Gonzalez from The Wrap did tweet this recently and now with THR confirming the news, I fully expect us to meet who will be playing Captain Marvel during WB’s presentation tomorrow and I hope Johnson and Samberg come out on stage together to reveal the actor.
