For the second time this year we got a story about Wonder Woman, but this time it was about the man behind the greatest female superhero ever and his two loves.

The story follows the unconventional life of Dr. William Marston (Evans), Havard psychologist and inventor, and the relationship between in wife, Elizabeth (Hall) and their lover Olive Byrne (Heathcote) that inspired the iconic superheroine Wonder Woman.

What I enjoyed the most out of this film was at the root of it this was a love story and you could tell these people truly cared about each other even though we're was plenty of pain that element never left them.

Evans was charming and charismatic as William Marston and he embodied the smart, caring man as someone who you want to root for and this is important because it could've and would've been easy to paint him as a bit of dirty bastard.

Hall was brilliant as William's wife, Elizabeth. Who is his equal in every way and is incredibly witty that makes her easier to like because she is a bitch at times. Meanwhile, Heathcote as Olive has this simple pureness but has the element of surprise throughout with her heart and brains that makes her loveable.

You can tell why these two strong women were the inspiration behind Wonder Woman and what made her become a feminist icon.

You can also see the love director Angela Robinson has for this character and these people and I'd love to see her come in and like all great love stories there was plenty of heartbreak and Robinson didn’t shy away from that either.

Elsewhere, it was a smart idea for Warner Bros not to tell this story as Robinson was able to tell a more truthful biopic, but Warner and DC deserve credit to let the film use actual Wonder Woman comics.

The final scene is highly emotional and I can understand why Debbie Snyder (producer behind Wonder Woman & Justice League) cried.

My biggest hope is Robinson will be able to come in and handle a Wonder Woman film, while Patty Jenkins is off on the Justice League or Man of Steel sequel.

Verdict

A love story between three forward-thinking people who brought us one of the greatest superheroes ever.
