The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson Is Creating A Brand-New Star Wars Trilogy

Well if anything, Lucasfilm are incredibly excited about showing The Last Jedi to the world as it was announced the film’s director will be taking control of a brand-new Star Wars trilogy.

Announced on the official Star Wars website, Johnson will create a brand-new Star Wars trilogy which he’ll be writing and directing and it’ll be separate from the episodic Skywalker saga. “Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never been explored.”

Johnson has brought longtime collaborator Ram Bergman who’s onboard to produce.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said, “We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi. He’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”

“We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on The Last Jedi,” said Johnson and Bergman. “Star Wars is the greatest modern mythology and we feel very lucky to have contributed to it. We can’t wait to continue with this new series of films.”

Johnson followed the unveiling with this tweet.

Obviously I hope you like The Last Jedi. But man now I REALLY hope you like The Last Jedi.

I don’t think he has anything to worry about because it this shows both Disney and Lucasfilm are excited and confident about this film and expecting to make a minimum of billion dollars worldwide.

So what could Johnson’s trilogy be about?

Well, the likelihood is Johnson is a creative bloke and he brought in some new things to The Last Jedi like looking into the upper class with the Vegas-like planet and introducing Porgs!

Then there some fans hoping we’ll be getting a Porgs trilogy as they battle to control the universe.

The final idea is we’ll be going way back to the Old Republic and this is a hugely popular story within the Star Wars fandom due to the PC game that introduced a lot of the present day lore like the Siths law of two and the Jedi Council.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be in UK cinemas on December 15, 2017.
