Deadpool Director Tim Miller In Talks To Helm A X-Men Kitty Pryde Film At Fox

Tim Miller is set to return to the X-Men Universe as he’s in talks to direct another spin-off this time on a popular female character.

According to Collider, the Deadpool helmer is in discussion with 20th Century Fox to bring a solo Kitty Pryde (aka Shadowcat) film to the big screen. The young X-Men members powers include phasing through solid substances.

The project was already in motion before the Fox/Disney merger and it’s likely this could happen as they have 12 to 18 months before the merger is fully completed and the X-Men characters go to the House of Mouse. However, Collider do strongly state that this film may never see the light of day for many reasons.

Kitty Pryde has been in previous X-Men films played by Sumela Kay (X-Men), Katie Stuart (X2) and lately by Ellen Page in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

I think this a great idea, especially since the character is popular among the comic book readers, and if Fox can fast-track this project for a 2020 release it’ll fill the X-Men gap that won’t be there for the foreseeable future when Disney/Marvel take control.

As for casting, Page won’t be returning but two actresses that could be decent are Olivia Cooke and Hailee Steinfeld. Both of them are talented, young stars and this would be a perfect film to continue their rise and 2018 is the perfect year for both with British actress Cooke is in Ready Player One and then there’s the Bumblebee movie starring Steinfeld.
