Even though the film is due out in May, we still barely know next to nothing about Solo: A Star Wars Story apart from it’ll focus on a young Han Solo and the backstage issues with Phil Lord and Chris Miller's sacking and hiring of Ron Howard as director.
However, Disney/ Lucasfilm has now revealed it’ll basically be an origin story telling the important moments of how the smuggler-turned-general first met his trusted Wookie sidekick as well as a smooth-talking gambler.
The official synopsis states: “Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an adventure with the most believed scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meet his mighty future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”
It’s finally nice to know what the hell is going on in this film and it looks likes Han as the Falcon for the beginning.
The hope is now we’ve got an official synopsis, we’ll finally get that first trailer either attached to the UK release of Coco this week or either attached to Black Panther or the Superbowl in February.
It’s nice Disney are sticking to their guns and releasing the film on May 25, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’ll be released in November due to the fact we haven’t seen anything and the recent news of Deadpool 2 moving to 18th May and Avengers: Infinity War on May 4 in the US (April 27 in the UK).
Aiden Ehrenreich will take on the role of Han Solo with Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian and the cast that includes Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany, Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke and Phoebe Waller-Bridge will play all-new characters.
