Warner Bros/DC Films' The Flash Look To Hire Spider-Man: Homecoming Writers

Following both Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa’s departures the solo Flash film has been without a director since October 2016, but now it looks like that’ll be changing.

According to Variety, Warner Bros are looking at bringing on board John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein to helm the film.

Daley and Goldstein are best known for writing the script of Spider-Man: Homecoming, they also directed Vacation and the upcoming comedy Game Night, which is also at WB and stars Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, Kyle Chandler, Jesse Plemons and Jeffrey Wright.

For a while, the studio was looking at bringing in Back To The Future’s Robert Zemeckis but by the looks of things they couldn’t wait much longer as he was helming another project at Universal. They also asked Ben Affleck, but he turned it down.

Ezra Miller will be reprising his role of Barry Allen/The Flash and the film is rumoured to centre around the famous Flash story and comic book, Flashpoint.

During the no director/page one rewrite Miller went on to begin filming Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald the second film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Flashpoint is about Barry creating an alternative universe after he goes back in time to save his mum. In the alternative universe, Thomas and Martha Wayne become Batman and The Joker after the murder of their son, Bruce. Aquaman and Wonder Woman were secret lovers before she killed Mera which led to a war between Atlanteans and Amazonians, meanwhile, Superman is imprisoned and experimented on by the government.

As you can tell as a jolly story but also an incredible one too. The story was turned into an awesome DC animated film called Flashpoint Paradox.

Which is why I think Flashpoint won’t be Flash’s first solo outing, it’s too important and should be saved for as a Justice League sequel as it involves seeing a different side of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.

Furthermore, this film needs a strong director to handle the project and no offence to this duo but it’s not them. Which makes me think new DC Films boss Walter Hamada and WB President and Chairman Toby Emmerich is focusing on a simply Flash story.

Well, that’s my hope as I’ve never been on board with the idea of Flash’s first ever solo movie to be one of the most important stories within DC Comics.
