WWE Officially Announces An All-Women's PPV Called Evolution

WWE made their major announcement on last night’s Raw and revealed that there’ll be the first ever all women’s Pay-Per-View called Evolution.

The show will be taking place on Sunday 28th October and in NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York and obviously it’ll be streamed live on the WWE Network.

The PPV will involve championship matches for the Raw, Smackdown and NXT Women’s titles as well as matches from Raw, Smackdown, NXT and NXT UK.

This is great for NXT UK to expand the brand and introduce US wrestling fans (both WWE hardcore and causal) to the massive talented wrestlers in NXT UK like Jinny, Charlie Morgan, Killer Kelly and more in their own Championship match.

Additionally, the finals of the Mae Young Classic tournament will also be happening and they’ll be joined by Hall of Famers and legends like Trish Stratus, Lita, Beth Phoenix and you bet the Bella’s will be involved.

This is just news and WWE had to do something after the women couldn’t be on the Greatest Royal Rumble card and unlike that money grab, Evolution will become one of the major PPV’s for the company joining Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series and I’d even add Money in the Bank onto this list.

Speaking on Raw, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon stated “Because of all of you, men and women using your voices for change, we are able to provide the platform to show the world that women can do anything and be anything they want to be.

“Because of all of you, we are able to stand here and make another first-ever announcement. On October 28, over 50 women, then, now and forever, will participate in an event called Evolution, and that event — I am privileged to announce — will be the first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view” added McMahon.

Triple H, WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative, went on to say “Three years ago, our fans demanded a change with the hashtag, #GiveDivasAChance, and an evolution started. Since that time, our female Superstars have overdelivered in every opportunity presented to them, and I expect nothing different during our first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view event.”

My biggest hope is on the show we’ll get Women’s tag titles for both RAW and Smackdown as it would be the perfect platform to build more stories and then you’ve got the dream matches.

Mickie James suggested to Stratus about one more match, but I have feeling Sasha Banks would like to be involved with that along with Alexa Bliss. Elsewhere, we could get pay off from last year’s Royal Rumble between Phoenix and Nia Jax and if there won’t be tag titles then the Bella’s taking on the Iconic Duo is a must-see match.

This could be the ideal place to sew the seeds for, with Ronda Rousey and Shayna Balzer at the show, the four horsewomen of WWE fight the MMA Four Horsewomen at Wrestlemania in 2019.

Finally, I’m sure Michael Cole will be part of the commentary team, however, I think Mauro Ranallo would be better because he is just better than Cole. Either way, I hope Renee Young will be the co-commenter as she has experience during her time on NXT and Superstars.
