The era of DC Universe has begun as last night the streaming service of their new news and talk show DC Daily (love the name and beautiful set) and it revealed a lot of info.

Hosted by DC Comics nerd Kevin Smith on the show that’ll focus on all things DC and the daily show will be exclusive to the streaming service, but certain segments will be available to watch on Youtube etc.

The first big reveal was DC Universe will launch on one of (if not) the biggest days in DC Comics, Batman Day. That’s right you’ll be able to watch classic and iconic animated series, TV shows and films as well as read comic books from September 15.

Sadly none of the new and exclusive shows will air on the same day as the newest live-action series from Greg Berlanti, Titans will air on October 12 but if you’re heading to New York Comic Con (October 3) you have a chance to see the world premiere of the first episode.

It’s sad because you’d want to make the biggest impact possible, but it is understandable as this gives them enough time to make every one of the 12 episodes as brilliant as possible. It’s just a shame it’ll be a weekly release instead of one big binge watch.

During the live stream, we also got to see new images from the Titans series and insight on the show’s origins and storyline. Meanwhile, we got a sneak peck at the most anticipated series coming to DC Universe, Young Justice: Outsiders but annoyingly this show won’t be available until 2019. Maybe when DC Universe is released worldwide?

Show producers and creators Greg Wiseman and Brandon Vietti talked about the highly anticipated third series.

2019 will likely be the big year for DC Universe with Young Justice, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing and the animated Harley Quinn series will all come out next year and they could be joined by Stargirl, which we got the look at the shows logo.

As for DC Daily itself, the show’s team was also revealed and will be led by the show’s news anchor Tiffany Smith.

Having Smith on board was a no-brainer since she’s been the lead host of DC’s Youtube show DC All Access for years and it would’ve been a bigger shock if she wasn’t involved.

Smith will be joined by a great group of co-hosts and they included Clarke Wolfe, better known to fans of Collider and (sorry of the spoiler) current Schmoedown tag champion and is a brilliant choice.

Elsewhere, Samm Levine, Hector Navarro, Sam Humphries, Brian Tong, Markeia McCarty, John Kourounis will be joined by Harley Quinn Smith (actress and comic fan in her own right as well as her old man), Krypton star Cameron Cuffe and finally the legend, the icon John Barrowman.

I love Barrowman so much either as a serious actor or just him being the wonderful, entertaining, funny person he is.

These co-hosts will share news and bring commentary from the fans point of view.

However, as a viewer of Popcorn Talks DC Movie News, it is sad the four great hosts missed out on joining DC Daily. I just hope Warner Bros and DC Entertainment keep an eye on Jonny Loquasto, Roxy Striar, Adam Gertler and Mike Kalinowski and will be on the subs bench in case one of these hosts are ill or move on.

There’s a massive catalogue comics to read in the meantime from the first appearance of Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman as well as famous and must read series including Jack Kirby’s New Gods and I’m personally hoping there’s a chance to read some of the DC Black Label.

Finally, if you live in the US and over 18 you can enter the chance to win the Ultimate Batman Studio Tour sweepstake and the lucky winner will get to visit Warner Bros, take the WB Hollywood Studio tour, visit DC Headquarters, ride in the fucking Batmobile and walk away with an unbelievable prize package and more!!

If you’ve already pre-ordered or pre-order the streaming service before Wednesday 12th September will automatically enter the chance to win.
