Marvel Studios and Entertainment Weekly released the first look of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.

Couple of days before Larson tweeted at EW asking them If they wanted to “break the internet” and while it was more of a slowing down, this is the best costume Marvel has ever done.

Granted in my case, this isn’t a hard thing to be as, apart from Captain America and Iron Man in their first films and Black Panther, I feel the costumes in the past 10 years of the MCU have been awful and nothing special.

It’s not only Larson’s Carol Danvers, we also got our first look at Jude Law’s Mar-Vell and Ben Mendelsohn's villains Talos leading his Skrull army.

The tweets regarding this Skrull image have been fantastic.

Meanwhile, we also got to see the amazing Gemma Chan looking awesome AF as Kree Sniper Minn-Erva as part of what looks like the Green Lantern Corps, a two-eyed younger Samuel L. Jackson and Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau.

This could be an important casting as in Marvel Comics lore as Maria has a daughter called Monica, who follows Danvers and becomes Captain Marvel.

So the 1990’s setting makes it even more interesting as we’ll see an older Danvers in Avengers 4 and could she be joined by a 20 plus Monica Rambeau to take on Thanos.

Talking to the US magazine (via Digital Spy), the Oscar winner Larson admitted she was hesitant about playing Marvel Studios first lead superhero.

“I never saw myself doing something like this, mostly because I like being anonymous.

“I like disappearing into characters, and I always felt like if I was out in the public eye too much, it potentially limits you in the future.”

However, after reading the script, Larson got excited by the opportunity of playing Danvers and was drawn by the character’s honestly and assuredness.

“Just seeing a character who says how she feels and say what’s on her mind and doesn’t let people stand in her way is incredibly empowering,” she explained.

Additionally, we also learnt more about the plot as we already knew the film will be set in the 1990s, with Larson rocking a Nine Inch Nails tee, and I’m sure plenty of fans, including myself, thought we’d get an origin story focusing on how the Air Force pilot getting her powers, becoming a superhero and why she left earth.

It turns out we’re not getting that at all because this won’t be an origin story in the typical sense.

Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck talked to EW telling them they’re abandoning the “traditional origin-story template”. In fact, the film will begin with Danvers already having her powers and left Earth to join Starforce, the Kree black-ops team led by Law’s Mar-vell.

The plot goes on to reveal Captain Marvel will battle Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace coming back from Guardians of the Galaxy) and the shapeshifting aliens (and Kree fierce enemies) the Skrulls.

We’ll also learn how Jackson’s Nick Fury lost his eye and got involved with superheroes and join S.H.I.E.L.D.

The only worry is a longer number of the audience doesn’t know Carol Danvers story and probably don’t know who the hell Captain Marvel is so hopefully, they have some flashbacks explaining everything.

Captain Marvel comes to the US and UK on March 8, 2019.
